The Abia state chapter of the Nigerian Environmental Society (NES) has pledged to develop effective ways to protect and manage environment in the state.
The new chairman of the chapter, Dr. Uchenna Onyeizu, who gave the assurance in Umuahia, said NES would work towards ensuring preservation and conservation of the state’s environment.
He said: “We will work towards changing the negative disposition of people to waste management and disposal.”
The association affirmed that it would also recommend bills relevant to environmental management for passage into law. Other members elected include Vice Chairman, Mrs. Delphine Nwagboso; assistant secretary, Mr. Edward Uchenna Shadrach and Dr. Nwakanma Chioma as the Treasurer.
