Dangiwa Advocates Review of ARCON Act

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has urged for a comprehensive review of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) Act 2004. Dangiwa made this appeal recently during the inauguration of the re-constituted 14th Council of ARCON in Abuja.

He emphasized the need for a thorough examination and update of the Act to align its provisions with current and future realities. Dangiwa stressed the importance of removing any ambiguities present in the legislation.

Expressing concern over the alarming rate of building collapses in Nigeria, the minister highlighted the detrimental impact on lives and resources, attributing it to a dent on the reputation of the architectural profession.
Dangiwa urged the council members to prioritize accountability and transparency, emphasizing the promotion of ethical conduct and integrity among registered architects.

Addressing the newly inaugurated council, Dangiwa emphasized the significance of fostering unity within the architectural community. He underscored the importance of organizing effectively and leading the industry with integrity, aligning with the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda for housing and urban development.

Meanwhile, the re-elected President of ARCON, Dipo Ajayi, echoed the call for unity among professionals. He emphasized collaboration to drive creativity, innovation, and meaningful impact in the architectural landscape of Nigeria.

Ajayi reassured aspiring architects of support for their growth and development, emphasizing the council's commitment to creating opportunities for their licensure and advancement. He encouraged members to work together towards achieving common goals for the success of ARCON.
